What is MCAS?
The Mast Cell Activation Syndrome is a condition in which mast cells (immune system cells that release histamine and other mediators) activate excessively in response to stimuli that should not trigger them. Symptoms: facial redness, itching, hives, tachycardia, digestive problems, brain fog, fatigue, new multiple intolerances, reactions to odors/heat/temperature changes.
How we approach it
Collaborative work with your allergist, when applicable. Low-histamine + low-histamine-releaser nutritional plan. Targeted supplementation (quercetin, tolerable form of vitamin C, B6, copper). Gut care (dysbiosis worsens MCAS). Stress management (HPA axis highly involved). Patience and consistency — it is a condition that improves slowly.
